Zygomas are long implants that are inserted into the underside of the cheek bones to support a complete set of replacement teeth. These implants are especially designed for bony-deficient upper jaws. They may be offered to patients who are not suitable for the standard all-on-4 procedure and who wish to avoid bone grafting. The procedure allows for immediate teeth to be fitted within 3 days after surgery, in the same manner as with the standard all-on-4 technique. The procedure is performed in hospital under general anaesthetic by a team of Dr Fibishenko and an oral and maxillofacial surgeon who is specially trained in the placement of implants using this technique.
