Cosmetic Dentistry Costs, Dental Implant Costs, Dental Implant Prices Print E-mail

With modern advancements in technology and dentistry techniques the cost of cosmetic dentistry as well as the cost of dental implants and total smile makeovers have become more and more affordable for everyone to enjoy a great smile.

The most significant change in the costs of dental treatment has been in the prices of smile makeovers with full set replacement teeth on dental implants, for those who seek an alternative to dentures, or who have deteriorating teeth and want to avoid wearing a plate.  Such treatments are day-to-day occurrences in our clinic, and give a new start for many: from young adults with gum disease or who wore scars of their adolescent drug and alcohol abuse in their deteriorated teeth to mature adults in their late 80’s who can finally get rid of their loose dentures; and from the suburban housewife who neglected her teeth raising children, to successful businessmen and celebrities.

As arguably Australia’s leading brand in Aesthetic & Implant Dentistry, we occupy state of the art facilities in Melbourne’s East that enables us to provide cost-effective cosmetic dentistry and smile makeover solutions with dental implants…a branded smile without the price tag.   Easily accessible on Burwood Highway, what we may lack in exclusivity of our location, we make up in design, service and commitment to quality of dental treatment.  Our onsite laboratory is Australia’s premium laboratory for dental implant prostheses and porcelain restorations and offers expedited and elitist services to our patients within our all-inclusive costs of dental treatment.

Working within your budget:

At your initial consultation the dentist will be able to accurately identify your dental treatment needs and desires.  The dentist will then work out the best treatment plan and timeframe to fit with your budget. You are under no obligation to begin treatment at or during this consultation.  Upon completion of the necessary diagnostic steps and establishing your treatment plan, a fully itemized proposal is issued, along with finance and payment options.

Dental Treatment Fees
While we have provided the approximate costs of our procedures below, the best way to get an accurate estimate of your specific cosmetic dentistry and dental implant costs is to visit us for a thorough examination and consultation.  If your dentist or specialist referred you to us for specific treatment that is part of an overall treatment plan, they would generally provide you with an indication of their own component of the fees.  The prices shown are only for resident dentists of the Centre for Aesthetic and Implant Dentistry and are provided as a guide only and represent an average as treatment needs and complexity does vary.  These fees may change without notice.

Cost of Sleep Dentistry

The Centre for Aesthetic & Implant Dentistry provides sleep dentistry at a fraction of the cost of similar sleep dentistry services in private hospitals.  In addition to providing anaesthetic and monitoring facilities equivalent to many modern Day Procedure Centers, the facilities also provide access to state of the art dental equipment to help make the quality of your dental treatment the best it can be.  In addition to our resident dentists providing cost-effective sleep dentistry procedure, the centre is also open for use to other accredited dentists.  Subject to accreditation, you may have your own dentist provide your dental treatment at our facility under sleep sedation.

Available Rebates to offset Cosmetic Dentistry and Dental Implant Prices

Health Care Fund Rebates
If you are a member of a health care fund that offers dental rebates, it is possible that the fund may cover part of a dental implant price or cosmetic dental procedure- especially given that many of our procedures offer both an aesthetic and functional solution. The amount you receive may depend on:

  • The fund itself (ie. Whether it offers dental rebates for our procedures)
  • Your level of cover
  • The amount of time you have been a member (waiting periods) and,
  • Whether you have already used your annual dental allowance under the initiative

Typically the cost of any combination of cosmetic dentistry procedures, dental implants or total smile makeover will reach the annual limit of your cover under ‘major dental’.  The limit varies significantly and is on average between $800 to $2,000 per year. For more information, it is wise to contact your health fund directly to find out your annual limit for ‘major dental’ and ascertain an estimate of your out of pocket expenses.

Medicare Rebates
Some patients who have certain chronic medical conditions and complex care needs and whose oral condition has an impact on their general health may be entitled to Dental Treatment under Medicare under the Enhanced Primary Care Program (EPC).  A total of $4,250 may be claimed from Medicare towards dental treatment every 2 years period.

For more information about this scheme please contact Medicare (http://www.medicareaustralia.gov.au/provider/medicare/initiatives/), or speak to your doctor.

A specialist anaesthetist provides sleep dentistry services and Medicare typically covers 60% to 80% of the anaesthetic fees charged.

Tax Rebates
Dental treatment falls under Medical Expenses Offsets category (T7) in an Australian Tax Return.  Eligible individuals and families may claim a 20% rebate when their out of pocket expenses for dental treatment exceeds the $1,500 threshold.  For more information or to confirm your entitlement please speak to your accountant.

Patients from Abroad
The Centre for Aesthetic & Implant Dentistry has acquired both a national and an international reputation for quality, service and reasonable costs of Cosmetic Dentistry, Dental Implants and Smile Makeovers.  We see patients who travel from Europe, North America, South-East Asia, and Asia-Pacific, and who regard the favorable cost-to-benefit ratio of cosmetic and implant dentistry a worthwhile exercise.  In keeping with our principle that long-term dental health is not only achieved through meticulous treatment planning and refined techniques, but also through appropriate maintenance, we may often choose quality components that are in common use in the patient’s country of origin so as to facilitate their long-term maintenance upon their return home.

We have a number of hotels and apartments in close proximity to the dental clinic.  Patients who choose to have their treatment at our clinic are allocated a treatment co-ordinator who makes all the necessary arrangements and co-ordinates the necessary steps for diagnosis, treatment planning, costing of dental treatment, minimizing the timeframe, provision of the treatment and finally, recovery and review.

Australians Seeking Dental Treatment Abroad – A Warning!

Australia has one of the highest standards in Dentistry of any western country and it makes little sense when Australians seek dental treatment abroad because it seemed ‘cheaper’. All the leading Cosmetic Dentistry and Dental Implant centers in Europe and North America that maintain high standards would be priced similarly to Australia.   As dental treatment is not a mass-produced duplicate product where price competition is based on volume; a smile makeover with cosmetic dentistry and/or dental implants is rather a health and beauty requirement that needs individualized attention, hence cheap dental treatment costs often means cheap results.

There are a number of issues with seeking cheap dental treatment overseas:

  • The infection control practices and the regulations governing the provision of dental treatment in most other countries are not as stringent as they are in Australia
  •  Cosmetic dentistry or dental implant treatment abroad may offer visually improved results but rarely reaching the potential of a great smile and maintainable dental health by Australian standards
  •  As a smile makeover abroad is often focused on providing a quick solution, it is often at the expense of long term success and dental health
  • Smile makeover treatment is irreversible and if not performed to the highest standards, may be extremely difficult and costly to rectify
  •  Dental clinics outside of Australia that offer cheap cosmetic dentistry and dental implant treatment often use cheap materials and components, many of which have no TGA approval in Australia.   As such, when complications arise, or standard maintenance treatment is required, the process may become unnecessarily complex and costly
  • Some Asian clinics advertise ‘Western-trained Doctors’, but these are often inexperienced practitioners who use such clinics to gain experience
  •  Medicare rebates, Healthcare Fund rebates and Tax Rebates that are available in Australia may not be claimable for overseas treatment.  In certain cases the totality of rebates may be quite significant.
Complications with any surgical or cosmetic dental treatment may occur in the best of hands, and its important not only to choose a skillful dentist with particular expertise in the field, but also to know that any such complications can be appropriately managed and rectified.  Such peace of mind may not exist with extreme smile makeover treatment abroad.
